Why the Deep Ocean Is the One Place I Never Want to Visit
Daily writing prompt
What place in the world do you never want to visit? Why?

I’m up for most adventures, but staying dry is pretty important to me.

I am terrified of deep water. The idea of exploring the Mariana Trench, searching for treasures from the Titanic, or hunting for the lost city of Atlantis sounds like the plot of a horror movie, not an adventure. I mean, the vast majority of the ocean is still unexplored. No one really knows what’s down there. There probably are mermaids. And probably also Loch Ness monsters and other unimaginable horrors lurking in the darkness.

Plus, duh, we can’t breathe underwater, and the deeper you go, the closer you get to exploding your eardrums. If that’s not a red flag that some things are meant to be unexplored, then I don’t know what is.

I’ll happily enjoy the ocean from the shore, or better yet, from the top of a mountain.
