This post will be picture heavy as there really isn’t much that words can add to the unreal beauty of Khao Sok National Park.
Cheow Lan Lake
Anurak Community Lodge had arranged us a spot on a group tour of Cheow Lan Lake within Khao Sok National Park. The tour included pick up and drop off at Anurak Community Lodge. There were probably about 20 people or less in the group, all being picked up and dropped off at neighboring lodges.
We could have just stayed in the longtail boats the whole day and been happy. But in addition to the mind-blowingly beautiful water and limestone cliffs, we also got to visit a cave, go for a hike, and go swimming after lunch at the Panvaree Resort.

Hiking the Forest Swamp
One of our first stops was at the Klong Ka Swamp Forest Nature Trail.

This short jungle walk took us along a raised wooden boardwalk through dense forest and swampy terrain. The trail itself wasn’t difficult, though I did get stuck in the muck a couple times.

Exploring the Cave
From there, we continued by boat to our next stop at Pra Kai Petch Cave.

The cave was cool and dark, and the fact that you can only get there by boat after trekking through the jungle made it feel extra adventurous.

Panvaree Resort
Midday, we stopped for lunch at Panvaree Resort, a floating resort sitting right on the lake.

Wooden bungalows floated on the water, surrounded by towering limestone cliffs in every direction. It looked like something out of a movie.
Lunch was simple and satisfying, and afterward we had time to relax, swim, and enjoy the scenery.

It was a relatively small group of people on the tour, but everyone was too busy having their minds blown at our surroundings to really get to know each other. It wasn’t until we were heading back to our lodges that we connected with another couple from England. It was nice chatting with like-minded people enjoying nature’s beauty.
Our time at Khao Sok National Park ended up being one of the most visually stunning experiences of our entire trip.
We wished we’d known to spend more time there. We would have loved another day.
Up Next
After two unforgettable nights in the jungle and a day exploring the lake, it was time to leave Khao Sok behind and continue south toward the beaches. Next stop was Krabi.
